The Web Team is working on developing a web content training for all of our Web ambassadors to better help your users get the most out of your site.
When you strike out to develop content for your department/office/college's new Web site, we don't want you to have to go at it alone. We want a Web content training course to be available to all of our ambassadors so you have the tools to make your site and the information within it is super easy for your users to locate.
In the training, we will cover:
- the best practices for content creation,
- how to write your content for users with disabilities,
- how to write content for users with different needs (like current students, prospective international students, non-traditional students, and faculty members), and
- how to tailor your content to attract prospective students and faculty.
We'll also cover the best practices for links, documents, and photos — not just the written content.
I know everybody dreads trainings, but don't worry — this won't be a snooze-fest for you. We are working to make this an interactive session with a workshop component so we can help you with your content on the spot. Learning these best practices will help creating your new website's content a breeze, and it will also help you maintain and update the content that already exists on your site.
As soon as we complete the training, we'll set the dates and invite all of you to join us. Is there anything specific you would like to see in the training? Please, let us know in the comments section!
